Technical Report on the Noise Map The Noise Map of the Port of Barcelona is an instrument that allows us to graphically visualise the real noise level in its territory and therefore manage noise pollution. Air Quality Improvement Plan The objective of the plan is to set actions to minimise emissions of suspended particles (PM10), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and other polluting gases from port activity. The commitment to liquefied natural gas Liquefied natural gas is one of the alternatives to the use of traditional fuels to achieve our objectives of reducing polluting emissions and greenhouse gases. Port air quality The port's air quality has been monitored for decades. The actions included in the Port of Barcelona Air Quality Improvement Plan have made it possible to reduce emissions every year since 2016 and the 4th Strategic Plan also plays a major part in this objective. Environmental sustainability. 4th Strategic Plan The Port of Barcelona is fully aware of its responsibility to lead the change towards a model that is more respectful of the environment. That is why they devise, lead and participate in initiatives to promote environmental sustainability. Sustainable maritime transport: Eco Barcelona Ships are the main emitter of polluting gases and particles in the port. In addition to the port's own initiatives, the involvement of shipowners and maritime operators is essential to reverse this situation. Water quality and sanitation Since the year 2000 the Port of Barcelona has constantly improved the quality of its waters thanks to different actions. These included the constant analysis of their condition, carried out by the CSIC; monitoring of animal communities; a new sanitation network; the Llobregat treatment plant or the collection of floating waste. Control and analysis of port waters How does the Port of Barcelona care for its surrounding areas? For more than 20 years it has been controlling and analysing its waters and sediments on a regular basis. The results show an improvement in their biological quality. Ship waste management The port provides services for the proper reception and management of waste and debris generated on ships, with the ultimate goal of contributing to cleaner waters. Guide to quantifying ship emissions The port commissioned CENIT - Nautical Faculty to carry out various studies to improve the information used to make emission estimates, visiting cruise ships, ferries and container ships. Air quality in the Port of Barcelona The Port of Barcelona monitors the emissions of suspended particles (PM10), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and other polluting gases from the port activity. A plan in favour of the air we breathe The Port of Barcelona has been a pioneer in the port sector in promoting actions to reduce the environmental impact of its activity. One of them is the Air Quality Improvement Plan. Reports on water quality and sediments For more than two decades, the Port of Barcelona has regularly monitored the quality of port waters and their sediments, in order to act accordingly. Water quality in the Port of Barcelona Constant monitoring of the quality of port waters and sediments show an evident improvement in their chemical quality. Since the year 2000 there has been a decrease in inorganic nutrients, which benefits port ecosystems. Environmental Declaration of the Port of Barcelona The Environmental Declaration is the annual document that discloses the impact of the port on the environment, as well as the actions to reduce the impacts associated with port activity. Its publication is a transparency exercise in accordance with the European EMAS Regulation. Ecosystems and trophic chain The trophic chain in port waters interrelates the groups of organisms that make up the ecosystems of the port.
