The Noise Map of the Port of Barcelona is an instrument that allows us to graphically visualise the real noise level in its territory and therefore manage noise pollution.

The objective of the plan is to set actions to minimise emissions of suspended particles (PM₁₀), nitrogen oxides (NO_x) and other polluting gases from port activity.

The port provides services for the proper reception and management of waste and debris generated on ships, with the ultimate goal of contributing to cleaner waters.

The port commissioned CENIT - Nautical Faculty to carry out various studies to improve the information used to make emission estimates, visiting cruise ships, ferries and container ships.

The Port of Barcelona monitors the emissions of suspended particles (PM₁₀), nitrogen oxides (NO_x) and other polluting gases from the port activity.

The Port of Barcelona has been a pioneer in the port sector in promoting actions to reduce the environmental impact of its activity. One of them is the Air Quality Improvement Plan.

For more than two decades, the Port of Barcelona has regularly monitored the quality of port waters and their sediments, in order to act accordingly.

Constant monitoring of the quality of port waters and sediments show an evident improvement in their chemical quality. Since the year 2000 there has been a decrease in inorganic nutrients, which benefits port ecosystems.

The Environmental Declaration is the annual document that discloses the impact of the port on the environment, as well as the actions to reduce the impacts associated with port activity. Its publication is a transparency exercise in accordance with the European EMAS Regulation.
