The commitment to liquefied natural gas
Liquefied natural gas is one of the alternatives to the use of traditional fuels to achieve our objectives of reducing polluting emissions and greenhouse gases.
The video is an institutional corporate report highlighting the adoption and promotion of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a clean mobility fuel at the Port of Barcelona. It opens with an introductory screen displaying "El Port de Barcelona, una aposta decidida per la sostenibilitat - La millora de la qualitat de l'aire". Throughout the clip, footage presents aerial views of storage tanks and gas compressors at the Enagás regasification plant in the port, articulated fuel transfer arms, passenger ferries berthed at quays (such as Baleària's Abel Matutes), tank trucks performing ship-to-truck bunkering via flexible cryogenic hoses connected by technicians in safety gear, heavy freight trucks refueling at an LNG gas station, and terminal machinery (such as straddle carriers) operating along container stacks. Key technical data appear superimposed on screen:
- The Port embraces Liquefied Natural Gas as a clean mobility fuel.
- Environmental benefits of LNG: 80% reduction in nitrogen oxides (NOx), completely free of particulate matter and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions.
- Clean and viable alternative: The cheapest and cleanest alternative for maritime vessels.
- Forecasts for 2030: By 2030, 30% of passenger vessels and 15% of merchant cargo ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas.
- Strategic positioning: The Port of Barcelona positions itself as the leading LNG bunkering hub in the Mediterranean.
- Land transport adoption: Heavy freight transport trucks and terminal machinery are also committed to LNG adoption. The video ends with the official Port de Barcelona logo screen, featuring the #GreenPort hashtag and social media links.
How does the Port of Barcelona work for a more sustainable future? Liquefied natural gas (LNG) has opened up an economical and clean alternative for maritime mobility. For this reason, we have promoted natural gas as a cleaner transportation fuel and have become the first LNG supply hub in the Mediterranean.
