A forecast system for the entire port system
Puertos del Estado has developed and manages a complete system for measuring and forecasting the marine environment. The objective is to provide the Spanish port system with the ocean-meteorological data essential for its design and operation. This information makes it possible to reduce costs and increase the efficiency, sustainability and security of port operations.
The system consists of an ecosystem of:
- networks measurement: buoys, tide gauges and high-frequency radars
- prediction services: waves, sea level, currents and water temperature
- climate ensembles: describe both the current maritime climate as their scenarios of change.
This network is not only designed to offer a service to the port environment, but also to society and other institutions. For this reason, it is now possible through the Puertos del Estado website and the application for mobile devices Imar, available at iOS y Android.
