Drones
Drone operations within the UAS Geographical Zone (ZGUAS) of the Port de Barcelona require prior authorization from the Port Authority of Barcelona. The applicable conditions may vary depending on the specific location, the type of operation, and the characteristics of the aircraft.
General requirements for operating UAS at the Port de Barcelona
- Have an authorisation from the Barcelona Port Authority.
- Be registered as an operator with AESA. The operator must comply with the regulatory requirements applicable depending on the type of operation (open or specific category).
- Have prior coordination with ENAIRE, depending on the location and altitude of the operation, including the applicable conditions of use.
- Hold a valid civil liability insurance covering potential damages to third parties.
- Hold a UAS pilot certificate, as well as a practical certificate issued by a recognized entity, which will be mandatory for all operations regardless of the category or applicable scenario.
- Provide justification of the type of operation, either through: European standard scenario declaration (STS) submitted to AESA, in accordance with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947; operational authorization issued by AESA after risk assessment (PDRA or SORA); or LUC certification (Light UAS Operator Certificate), if available.
LEPB coordination
Whenever the operation takes place within the ZGUAS of the Port de Barcelona, coordination with the heliport of the Port Authority of Barcelona – LEPB – will be managed directly under the framework of this authorization, without the need for a separate procedure.
For operations outside the scope of the ZGUAS of the Port de Barcelona that require coordination with the heliport of the Port Authority of Barcelona (LEPB), the coordination request must be sent to the following email address: permisosdrons@portdebarcelona.cat.
