The current port has a sheltered water surface of 902 hectares, in addition to 4,541 hectares of open water. Part of their responsibility is to ensure clean waters and the maintenance of the marine ecosystem.
Initiatives to improve the waters of the Port of Barcelona
The video is a corporate promotional overview highlighting six key initiatives implemented by the Port of Barcelona to improve port water quality and protect the marine environment. - The Llobregat wastewater treatment plant, reducing pollution and organic matter input into the sea.
- Floating debris collection, with over 400 m³ of waste gathered annually.
- The opening of the North entrance, which has sped up water turnover from 20 down to 7 days.
- Ship waste collection, preventing marine pollution.
