Ecocalculator
The Ecocalculator is a tool to calculate the CO2 emissions generated by the transport of a container between a European location and a port in the rest of the world, passing through the Port of Barcelona.
How it works
The use of the tool is very simple and agile:
- In "Route" select a port in the foreland with which it has a maritime connection.
- Select the travelling direction of : European export or import.
- Select a location in the European hinterland.
- Select the mode of transport of the terrestrial section (train or truck). In the rail transport, choose an intermodal terminal close to the European origin/destination.
- Click "Calculate" and in "Result" you will see the CO2 emissions of the proposed route from our port.
- In "Alternative", if you wish, you can compare routes proposing an alternative port passage.
Features and functionalities
These are some of the things to take into account about the tool:
- It offers a land-sea route proposal between a port in the foreland, the Port of Barcelona and a European location, with total distances and CO2 emissions and for each mode of transport.
- It shows the routes in Google Maps and you can generate a results report to export or print.
- For the Port of Barcelona consider the offer of regular maritime services, both direct and transshipments. For the other European ports, it proposes real direct services and combinations with transshipments, to be confirmed with the operators.
- For rail transport it offers a theoretical route between the port–or the European port alternative- and an intermodal terminal, to be confirmed with the operators. Transport between the terminal and the location is by truck.
