Typical of the First Lighting Plan

The lighthouse was inaugurated on 1 September 1864 and on 5 September 1921 it was one of the first electrified lighthouses in the State with a 500 W incandescent lamp. Facing the south and out over the Gulf of Roses, it has been the northern reference point of this bay, near the port of the town.

Its construction is the typical architecture that was used in the construction of the lighthouses of the first phase of the Lighting Plan for the Spanish coast. It is a small house with a cylindrical tower and is currently integrated into the urban network of the town of Roses.

The remodelling

The Port Authority has reached an agreement with the Roses City Council to proceed with the rehabilitation of the lighthouse and create a space for public access, in which it will be possible to visit the Baluard de Sant Antoni.
