FAQ

When does my ship arrive?

Here you can check the next calls of the ship you are looking for.

How can I ship goods to or from a foreign country?

To send goods abroad, it is necessary to contact a freight forwarder or a customs agent (it would be useful if they had a correspondent in the country of origin and in the country of destination), so that they can inform you of the procedures, documents, rates and budget and are in charge of organising the entire shipment to the place of delivery.

Look for a freight forwarder or customs agent who adheres to the quality mark of the Port of Barcelona, Efficiency Network, since they comply with the quality standards defined by our technical department.

I have bought goods that have arrived at the Port of Barcelona. How should I proceed to get them out of the port?

To advise you on the procedures and costs to collect your goods, we recommend that you contact a logistics operator. In principle, the seller in the country of origin should have one, which should tell you which correspondent (or collaborating company) it has in Barcelona.

If your goods do not fill an entire container and share one with other buyers, it will leave the Port of Barcelona towards the operator's warehouse, which will open it, take out the goods and distribute them among the different clients.

For this reason, it is advisable that you consult your seller at origin as to which Barcelona company will deliver the container to you. Thus, by contacting the Barcelona company, you will be able to request an estimate of the total expenses and avoid surprises upon the arrival of the container. This same operator will be in charge of carrying out the customs procedures and the delivery of the goods.

What should I do to send or receive personal items (moving items, vehicles, etc.)?

To carry out this operation, you should contact the following customs agents who perform this type of shipment, to be informed of the costs and procedures.

How can I know if my goods have arrived?

To find out if your goods have arrived at the port, you must provide us with the registration number of the container. This is made up of 4 letters (the last one is a U) + 6 numbers + a control digit.

When you have the aforementioned information, send an email to sac@portdebarcelona.cat so that we can tell you if the goods are in the port and, if so, where they are located.

Remember that this address is active during SAC business hours (Monday to Thursday, from 8:00 to 17:00, Friday, before holidays, and in August, from 8:00 to 15:00).

What are the destinations and origins from the Port of Barcelona?

The Port of Barcelona offers its customers the regular lines search engine. If you perform the "Advanced Search" indicating the geographical area, country and port of origin or destination as well as the circuit (import or export) a list of lines from the Port of Barcelona opens. To contact the companies just click on "Consignee" and the contact telephone number will appear.

How can I find out which regular lines operate with a specific foreign port?

From the Port of Barcelona website, in the regular lines section, you can find out which companies operate with the port of your choice, classified according to the type of operation you want to carry out (transport of goods, passengers, vehicles, etc.).

In addition, you will find information on stopovers and the capacity of the ships of the line.

Once the search is complete, a list will appear with the consignees that perform said service, to obtain more information you must click on "Consignee" and a tab will open with its contact details.

If you do not find operators among the selected sites, you can consult the nearest ports and carry out additional transport by road or train from there.

How do I know what condition my container is in?

The Port of Barcelona offers its customers the CTA - Container Tracking Application so they can track their containers in real time, 24/7, during their passage through the Port of Barcelona.
