Historical heritage of Cadaqués

When the maritime-commercial activity of the port of Cadaqués fell, in the first third of the 20th century, the Cala Nans lighthouse lost its strategic value and suffered a certain abandonment.

In 1982, due to its dilapidated state, the plan was to demolish it and replace it with a new one. This was prevented by the opposition of the residents of Cadaqués, who considered the building part of the town’s historical heritage and managed to have it completely rehabilitated.

Characteristic construction

The lighthouse is a cylindrical tower, of beautiful construction, on a white house. The light is 36 metres above sea level.
