Thailand 2022
In 2022, the Port of Barcelona resumed the mission in face-to-face format in Bangkok, the city where the business day and technical seminars on customs and innovation were held on 25 and 26 October.
Thailand is a growing country full of opportunities and the Port of Barcelona delegation was able to verify the great interest of the Thai Government and shipping companies in collaborating and strengthening trade ties with Catalonia.
In this 24th edition of the missions, face-to-face activities were recovered after the pandemic and despite the difficulties, the trip achieved its objectives. The inaugural session was attended by some 120 professionals and the technical seminars were attended by a record number of people and there was a growing interest shown by our Thai interlocutors, who were very appreciative of being visited by the gateway logistics hub of Southern Europe.
The work program for the members of the Port delegation included:
- Business conference & lunch networking: approximately 100 participants.
- Customs Technical Seminar: approximately 50 participants.
- Seminar on Innovation & Smart Ports: approximately 60 participants.
- Private meeting on Training & Logistics: 16 Thai executives registered.
- Institutional meetings: 41 Thai executives participated.
The actions carried out in the context of the mission in Bangkok were:
- Meetings with shipowners: One, Maersk, and Evergreen.
- Institutional meetings: Marine Department, Thai Customs, Port Authority of Thailand, Thailand Chamber of Commerce, Embassy of Spain in Thailand, Port of Bangkok.
- Visits to port facilities: Port of Bangkok and Port of Laem Chabang.
- Development of nine private work agendas by the companies of the delegation.
- Signing of an agreement with counterparts from ATEIA-OLTRA Barcelona, Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport, and the Port of Barcelona
