Light between Calella and Palamós

This lighthouse, the twin of the s’Arnella lighthouse in Port de la Selva, was inaugurated on 27 August 1919. It was built to cover the light gap between the Calella and Palamós lighthouses. On the western side, its light string connects with the light of the Calella lighthouse and heading a little further to the SW, it connects with the Barcelona lighthouse system, specifically with that of Montjuïc.

The building

The maritime signal is housed in a square building with a tower in the centre, which stands out in a very special way in the surroundings of the Tossa coast and its cape. Following an agreement with the town council, it houses an Interpretation Centre of the Lighthouses of the Mediterranean.
