Open sheds

This project consists of rehabilitating 4 buildings from between 1904 and 1915, of different size and function in their origin, to give them new urban and port uses still to be defined.

Historical presence

Over the years the buildings have undergone various interventions and a different adaptation to uses, according to current needs. The planned action foresees preserving the construction system and the exterior finishes of each building, which give them a solid appearance and historical presence. But at the same time, it tries to give it a coherence as a whole.

Image as a whole

This is achieved using a wooden portico as the only cohesive element between buildings. The result is a new built-up front that presents old buildings linked together by new constructions that are respectful of the origins. A sustainable and emblematic complex, without fanfare, with a spirit of service and an approach to the city.

Future uses

The Nova Bocana area is expected to experience significant revitalisation in the coming years, with all the actions carried out and planned in the area and the new connectivity with the existing promenades. In addition, the nautical bus project between the Drassanes dock, in the Portal de la Pau, and Nova Bocana will considerably improve the mobility of visitors and workers.

All of these are very determining factors when it comes to defining the future uses of the open sheds once rehabilitated. A decision that is currently still open.
