Sustainability, global disruptions and the America's Cup, the protagonists of Smart Ports 2022
Innovation and the future of the port sector will be discussed at this year's edition. The fourth edition of this initiative led by the Port of Barcelona, which returns to an in-person format, will bring together the world's leading experts in port sector innovation. Smart Ports: Piers of the Future will discuss five key elements in innovation and the future of the port sector grouped under the acronym PORTS - Partnership, Oceans, Resilience, Technology and Start-ups.
The Port of Barcelona and PowerCon start building the pilot project to provide electrical power to ships at the BEST terminal

The Port of Barcelona and PowerCon A/S have started building the pilot project to provide electrical power to ships at the BEST terminal. The company has been awarded the contract for this project, part of Phase Zero of the Wharf Electrification Plan developed by the Port of Barcelona and includes the drafting and performance of the project as well as the ships' connection and disconnection service and the maintenance of the installation. The contract has been for €4,978,640.

The NYYC American Magic team visits its future base for the America's Cup in the MB92 technical area at the Port of Barcelona

The Port of Barcelona is making progress in adapting the areas that will house the bases of the five teams participating in the 37th America's Cup sailing event, to be held in Barcelona in 2024. The various teams have already chosen the sites from among a list proposed by the port and have begun adaptation work, which in some cases has already been completed. This is the case of the MB92 Base, where the American NYYC American Magic team will be located.
