2008

Key infrastructure

Two strategic construction projects were completed in 2008: the East and South seawalls, representing the Port’s largest ever investment (EUR 501 million). The projects were co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund (53% of the capital invested). The new Pilots’ Tower was also inaugurated in the summer of 2008.

The tower represented a huge technical step forward and cost over EUR 6.7 million to build. The metal tower on the Energy wharf is 45 metres and seven storeys high.
