Barcelona: an Olympic city and more

1992 was a magical time for the city. The Port had a vital role to play, accommodating up to 11 cruise ships that functioned as floating hotels.

This year also marked a turning point for the Port’s internal organisation. The Spanish Government created the concept of State Ports in order to bring the port network back under State control. Management of the reformed public body was centralised and the notion of autonomous ports ceased to exist. The Autonomous Port of Barcelona was renamed Barcelona Port Authority (APB).
