The Port of Barcelona takes a quantum leap in 2017 to become the fastest-growing European port

In 2017 the Port of Barcelona recorded its best results yet in the main traffic indicators, figures that allowed it to take a quantum leap to become the fastest-growing European port. Total traffic (including all cargo modes) surpassed 61 million tonnes for the first time, recording a year-on-year increase of 26%.

The Port of Barcelona promotes sustainable mobility with 31 electric vehicles and 47 charging points

The initiative to promote electrical mobility in the port area, in which it has invested a total of € 926,000, comprises two main actions: incorporating vehicles with electric motors into the Port fleet and installing the charging infrastructure, both for the fleet itself and for other electric vehicles that circulate around the port area.

The Port of Barcelona is to host the Freight Forwarders Forum 2017, organised by CLECAT (European Association for forwarding, transport, logistics and custom services), the leading European association of freight forwarders and transport and logistics professionals, the event will discuss the need for the sector to innovate to keep on the path of sustainable growth.
