The Port of Barcelona validates its Innovation Plan

The Management Board of the Port of Barcelona validated the Innovation Plan, a model based on the current and future needs of Barcelona's Port Community and the society it serves. This model focuses on sustainable, open, collaborative, demand-driven innovation, in line with the Port's strategy and rooted in technology. The ultimate objectives of the Plan are to strengthen the role of the Port as a driver for economic growth, encourage innovation, promote the digitalisation of the logistics ecosystem and foster synergies with the city in this area.

The two-day event Smart Ports: Piers of the Future led by the Port of Barcelona, featuring some of the world's most innovative port members: Antwerp, Barcelona, Busan, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Rotterdam and Montreal. The hybrid event went live alongside the Smart City Expo World Congress 2021 to bring together port-city communities on topics including the energy transition, digitalisation, and the Blue Economy. The Port of Barcelona and the city councils of Barcelona and El Prat give a progress report on the Urban Master Plan for the Intermodal Logistics Terminal

The process of citizen participation begins for the Urban Master Plan of the Port of Barcelona railway node, a preliminary step before drafting, processing and final approval of the plan. This railway node will make the Port of Barcelona more efficient, competitive and sustainable. The node occupies 68 ha and is one of the nodes of the Mediterranean Corridor. The UMP will include regulation and urban planning of the spaces affected by new infrastructure.
