The Port of Barcelona tenders out the pilot project to supply electricity to ships at the BEST terminal
The Port of Barcelona sent to the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) the tender for the pilot project to supply electricity to container vessels in operation at the Hutchison Ports BEST terminal. This pilot project, with a tender price of €5,852,487.88, is part of Phase Zero of the Wharf Electrification Plan being developed by the Port of Barcelona and includes drafting and performance of the project, as well as the ship connection and disconnection service and installation maintenance.
The Port of Barcelona approves the development of a new phase of BEST
The Management Board of the Port of Barcelona met and approved the next phase of development of Hutchison Ports BEST's terminal on the Prat wharf. The company will invest €60 M, with €31 M going to civil engineering works to accommodate seven more container blocks, for a capacity increase of 26%. BEST will invest the other €29 M to incorporate machinery, namely 14 automated cranes (ASC). The works, to be carried out on the 10 hectares of land which the Port of Barcelona handed over to the Hutchison terminal a year ago, will start by 1 May 2022.
The Port of Barcelona validates its Innovation Plan

The Management Board of the Port of Barcelona validated the Innovation Plan, a model based on the current and future needs of Barcelona's Port Community and the society it serves. This model focuses on sustainable, open, collaborative, demand-driven innovation, in line with the Port's strategy and rooted in technology. The ultimate objectives of the Plan are to strengthen the role of the Port as a driver for economic growth, encourage innovation, promote the digitalisation of the logistics ecosystem and foster synergies with the city in this area.
